A periodical is a magazine, newspaper, or journal published at regular intervals. A common type of academic or scholarly periodical are peer-reviewed journals. Peer-review is essentially a screening process for journal articles where expert peers of the author, associated with the publishing journal, review an article not only for spelling and grammar, but for content. As such, peer-reviewed journal articles are desirable sources because they should be as correct and free of bias as possible.
